MAP represents average blood pressure in arteries during one cardiac cycle. Calculated as Diastolic BP + (1/3 × Pulse Pressure). Normal MAP is 70 to 100 mmHg.
MAP ensures adequate organ perfusion (brain, kidneys, heart). A MAP below 60 mmHg indicates compromised tissue perfusion.
MAP = Diastolic BP + 1/3 (Systolic BP - Diastolic BP)
A MAP below 60 mmHg or above 110 mmHg requires prompt clinical evaluation.
